Angela LaCarrubba is a graduate of New Jersey City University and received her masters of reading specialization/basic skills from Kean University. Her writing skills were honed at the Long Ridge Writers Group, of which the Institute of Children’s Writing is included, in Connecticut. Dancing with the Truth is her second children’s book and a sequel to her first, Nobody’s Purr-fect (Especially Not Georgie). Georgie, the family’s rescue cat, appears in both books.
Angela and her family lived in California for six years. They returned to their New Jersey roots where Angela taught in the Wilson Elementary School in Westfield, NJ for twenty-three years before her retirement. During her time at Wilson School she organized a multi-cultural school wide program, taught the nationally recognized Family Math program at night to children and their families, and worked on the district’s New Teacher Institute to train in-coming staff members. She was the recipient of the Westfield Rotary Club’s Charles Philhower Fellowhip Award in 1998 for outstanding teaching, interest in teaching children, and continued pursuit of professional growth.
In retirement, Angela spends time with family and friends, volunteers, dabbles in various activities, travels with her husband, and writes children’s books. Angela and her husband, Dennis, live in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Spending vacations and visits with their three adult children and their spouses along with their grandchildren, Aiden, Vincent, Kyle, Kellen, Helene, Brandon, Samantha, and Jessica is one of their favorite activities.
